Jacob Swain is a director and cinematographer working across film, music and theatre. He looks for the quiet tension in a moment and the human detail inside the frame.
Jake is a Calgary-based Métis filmmaker and digital media professional specializing in video production, editing, and creative direction. A citizen of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government’s District 6, and a graduate of SAIT’s Radio, Television and Broadcast News program, he combines a strong technical foundation with an artist-driven approach to creating engaging and culturally meaningful media.
As Digital Media Manager, Jake produces and oversees video, audio, promotional, and digital content supporting Indigenous-led film, theatre, music, and multidisciplinary arts. His work includes creative and production contributions to the Oki Corral Film Fest, Kin Fest, and Indians and Cowboys, a theatrical production for which he served as writer, composer, and editor.
His independent film work includes All Down But One, a short film that won the 48-Hour Film Challenge at the Calgary Underground Film Festival, and the upcoming short film Full Bleed. Across documentary, narrative film, live performance, and branded media, Jake brings together cinematic craft, technical versatility, Métis perspective, and a collaborative approach to tell stories that are visually distinctive, emotionally resonant, and grounded in community.
